5 Laptop Problems and How to solve them

1. Laptop Blank Screen

After pressing the power button nothing happens on the screen. One of the main pc problems is a failure for the device to switch on, and it leaves you without access to your files on the machine. If the laptop is not making any sounds or switching on, there are a few possible causes and solutions.

Firstly, you have to make sure your computer has been charged. If the laptop has been charged, it means your AC adapter might be dead. An AC adapter can be tested using a voltmeter or using a new adapter. If the AC adapter is working well, the DC jack may have a fault and is keeping power from getting into your computer, or the motherboard has some faults.

2. Laptop not switching on

This is one of the most common problem which affects many users. If the laptop indicates that it is on via lights or sounds, but the screen remains blank, you are unable to use your laptop. The issue can be problematic because your machine appears to be functional except for the screen. Firstly, unplug your laptop from its power source and remove the battery. Press and hold the power button for about a minute before plugging it back in and restarting your computer. Finally, replace the battery and restart the laptop again. You can also try checking beep codes, display issues, unusual BIOS settings, or troubleshoot the PC in Safe Mode.

3. Laptop keeps switching on and off

You may power on your laptop only for it to turn off and on again on its own. The laptop may shut down completely, or you can be left with a flickering display that makes it impossible to see the screen. Start by checking your memory modules or replacing them. If that does not resolve the issue, your motherboard maybe the problem.

4. The laptop makes noise while running

Many laptops make some noise when they are on, typically the whirl of the device’s fan. However, you may notice your laptop making more unpleasant sounds while it is running. If you notice a grinding noise or a rattling sound, you need to check the cooling fan.

Dust inside the laptop can cause this problem and you can solve this by cleaning the laptop using a blower or a fan.

If your laptop is still making noises even if the fan is not spinning, the sound is likely coming from your hard drive; you can back up your important files and data before replacing the hard drive.

5. Laptop battery not charging properly

If your laptop does not charge properly or at all, there is a possible fix. Adjust your AC adapter plug by moving the cord slightly to alter the position in the power connector. Your laptop may indicate that it is charging again, or you may notice that your adaptor cord is frayed or otherwise damaged. When your battery fails, you will need to replace it.
